Underwater Digital Twins
A measurable, navigable copy of the seafloor — built from photogrammetry and sonar.
We fuse high-resolution optical imagery with acoustic sensing to turn any underwater site — a reef, a wreck, a pipeline, a port — into an accurate 3D model you can inspect, measure, and monitor over time, without sending a diver back down.

WHY IT MATTERS
The ocean is the largest under-mapped surface on Earth. That’s a business and safety problem, not just a science one.
Roughly two-thirds of the planet is covered by water, and most of what’s below the surface has never been surveyed to a usable standard. For the blue economy — offshore energy, ports, aquaculture, marine conservation, defense — that gap means decisions get made on old data, verbal reports, or no data at all. A digital twin closes that gap: it replaces “we think it looks like this” with a measured, referenced, repeatable model of the actual asset or habitat.
Decisions get better data
Asset managers, regulators, and scientists can inspect, measure, and share a site without waiting on the next dive window or ROV mobilization.
Change becomes visible
Repeated surveys of the same georeferenced model reveal corrosion, scour, coral growth, or structural damage that a single inspection can’t show.
Risk and cost go down
A twin lets teams plan interventions, rehearse repairs, and flag problem areas before committing a vessel, crew, or diver to the water.
“You can’t manage what you can’t see. As the blue economy grows — energy, aquaculture, shipping, conservation — the businesses and agencies that succeed will be the ones that treat the subsea environment as a mapped, monitored asset rather than empty space.”
ON THE CASE FOR SUBSEA DIGITAL TWINS — INDUSTRY PERSPECTIVE
THE TECHNOLOGY
Two ways of seeing underwater, fused into one accurate model
Photogrammetry and sonar solve different problems. Used together, they cover for each other’s blind spots — producing a model that is both visually rich and metrically trustworthy, even in low-visibility or large-scale conditions.
OPTICAL
Photogrammetry
Thousands of overlapping high-resolution stills or video frames, captured by diver, ROV, or AUV, are aligned and reconstructed into a dense point cloud, textured mesh, and orthomosaic.
- Millimeter-to-centimeter surface detail
- True color and texture for visual inspection
- Best where water clarity and lighting allow close-range imaging
ACOUSTIC
Sonar
Multibeam and structured-light sonar generate bathymetry and structure at scale and in turbidity or darkness where cameras alone lose accuracy — the backbone for large-area coverage and absolute measurement.
- Works in low or zero visibility
- Covers large areas efficiently
- Provides the metric scaffold optical data is fit to
Fusion, not just collection
We register optical and acoustic datasets to a common coordinate system using ground control, acoustic positioning, and vehicle telemetry — so the finished twin is both photorealistic and dimensionally accurate, ready to compare against the next survey or a design model.

Our Capability
Platform- and sensor-agnostic, by design
Every site is different — depth, visibility, current, access, and budget all shape which tools make sense. We’re not locked into one vehicle or one sensor package, so the technology fits the job instead of the other way around.
ROVs & vehicles
An in-house fleet rated to 1,000 meters, plus partnerships for deeper or specialized access.
Camera systems
Cinema-grade, UHD, and low-light camera housings built and integrated in-house for demanding conditions.
Sonar integration
Multibeam and imaging sonar fused with optical capture for scale, structure, and low-visibility coverage.
Diver & AUV capture
Flexible data acquisition — divers, ROVs, or autonomous platforms — matched to site conditions.
Positioning & georeferencing
Acoustic positioning, ground control, and telemetry fusion for models tied to real-world coordinates.
Processing pipelines
Industry-standard photogrammetry and point-cloud software for large, high-density datasets.
Visualization & VR
Interactive, explorable delivery formats for teams who need to review a site without diving it.
30 years in the field
Deep-sea imaging and ROV operations experience across science, industry, and expedition work worldwide.
Services
End to end, from data capture to a model you can act on
We scope, mobilize, capture, and process — delivering a finished digital twin, not just a folder of raw data.
